What Lies Beneath the Damage

The thing most people fail to realize is that the moisture that builds up underneath tiles is just as important to take care of as any other visible damage. Water that builds up under tiles can warp structures, breed mold, and create an incredibly irritating odor. When you have issues with water that has soaked into the floor, you can handle it yourself, but you could miss or damage something without even realizing it. In the long run that could cause more problems for you. So it might just be something that you should call a professional for.

The attached images show the before and after of a tile removal for a water job. In the before image, it is not apparent that any of the water damage is still affecting the area. The tiles look clean, but as you can see from the looks of the subfloor, the surface doesn’t show the damage. Near the sink and the toilet, you can see the damage that can be left behind. While the owner could have tried to do the work on this bathroom alone, they made the choice to bring in SERVPRO®, and it benefitted them in the end.
